You can login in one of three ways: using Facebook, Google, or as a guest. Your Google account will be the one synced to your Android device. You will need to login with Facebook or Google to archive stories, take part in discussions and use other profile features.
If you're a published Ether Writer and have previously given us your Facebook link, login with Facebook and you will be matched up with your existing Ether profile!

Nope! All transactions are done through your Google account and we don't have access to that information.
You can search for individual stories or writers using the and icons. The default is set to ‘All Genres’, but if you tap where it says this at the top, you can choose which Genre you’d like to search for.
Search from any point in the app by tapping the icon in the top right corner. You can then choose which category you’d like to search under (e.g. story, writer, anything).
Your downloads can all be found in ‘My Collection’ which is accessible through the icon.
Your Read List is where all newly downloaded stories go--think of it as a ‘to read’ list. Once you’ve finished reading a story and want it out of the way, you can archive it using the ‘Archive’ button.
Any stories you would like to download at a later date can be added to your Wish List for reference. To add a story to your Wish List, go onto the specific story’s page and hit the ‘Add To Wishlist’ button. Your Wish List can be found in ‘My Collection’, the third and final tab.
Once you’ve downloaded three or more stories, we will start to give you recommendations based on these downloads, which you can find under the ‘For You’ tab when searching for stories or writers.
Discussions are any kind of communication with other Ether readers and writers on the app. You must be logged in with Facebook or Google to use them. In the ‘Discussions’ section , using ‘Messages’ you can privately message anyone you follow or are followed by. ‘Community’ is for our public forums.
You can also start public Discussions on a writer’s profile page. Any public Discussions you take part in, either in our forums or on writer profiles, will appear under the ‘My Discussions’ tab in the ‘Discussions’ section.
Every writer profile has a ‘Send Message’ button. You can search for Ether Writers by selecting the icon. From here you can select a profile.
Tap the My Profile button and then the pencil icon top right. If you are a reader, you can choose whether or not to ‘Keep my activity private’ by checking the box. Your picture will be either your Ether Writer photo or the one you use with Facebook/Google.
Writers do not need to have the app installed to be able to receive messages from readers. Therefore, you might end up getting an email from a reader even if you are not actively using the app.
There is currently not anything in the app for this. However, you can email firstname.lastname@example.org and this will be investigated.
You can make your account private, which will stop any Ether user viewing more than just your name and bio, and no read/follow/rating messages are posted to Facebook. This is off by default because Etherbooks is intrinsically a social reading app, and we want people to talk about the stories, but we understand some people my want to read in private. To make your account private you must edit your profile by following the instructions in How do I edit my profile? section above. The privacy option is right at the bottom by the save button.
We've add a few reader badges and writer badges to give everyone using the app an instant view of each Ether user they run into. Some are about how well repected they are as writers, while the rest are about how active our readers are and so maybe how knowledgable or engaged they are with Ether Books. We have a page explaining all about the individual badges here
